Με τη θάλασσα στην πλάτη σας, προχωρήστε από το λιμάνι του Πατητηρίου προς τα αριστερά, διασχίζοντας τα μπαρ, τις καφετέριες και τα εστιατόρια μέχρι να φτάσετε στο Μουσείο Πειρατών της Αλοννήσου. Πάρτε τον απότομο λόφο από την πλευρά του Μουσείου και μπείτε στον ασφαλτοστρωμένο δρόμο προς τη Μαρπούντα.
Περίπου 2 χιλιόμετρα μετά, ο δρόμος διακλαδίζεται δεξιά και γίνεται χωματόδρομος. Ακολουθήστε το ευχάριστο μονοπάτι προς την παραλία του Μεγάλου Μουρτιά, το ιδανικό μέρος για ένα δροσιστικό μπάνιο και ένα δροσιστικό ποτό.
Έχοντας απολαύσει τη στάση σας, συνεχίστε το δρόμο για 500 μέτρα, πριν διακλαδωθείτε δεξιά για να πάρετε έναν παλιό, εγκαταλελειμμένο δρόμο που θα σας οδηγήσει προς το παλιό μονοπάτι των γαϊδουριών. Αυτό ήταν ένα παραδοσιακό μονοπάτι που χρησιμοποιούσαν οι ντόπιοι για να κατέβουν στο Πατητήρι από την Παλιά Πόλη χρησιμοποιώντας γαϊδουράκια και μεταφέροντας τα εμπορεύματα που έφταναν στο λιμάνι πίσω στο χωριό. Από εδώ υπάρχουν μόνο άλλα 500 μέτρα μέχρι να μπείτε στην Παλιά Πόλη.
Αφιερώστε χρόνο για να εξερευνήσετε τον όμορφο οικισμό με τα στενά δρομάκια, τα γραφικά σπίτια και την εκπληκτική θέα.
Από εδώ έχετε τη δυνατότητα να καλέσετε ένα ταξί ή το λεωφορείο για να επιστρέψετε στο Πατητήρι, ή απλά να περπατήσετε πίσω από το μονοπάτι με τα γαϊδουράκια, προσθέτοντας άλλα 2,5 χιλιόμετρα (περίπου 40 λεπτά) στη βόλτα σας.
