With the sea on your back, proceed from the port of Patitiri all the way to the left, crossing the bars, cafes and restaurants until you reach the Alonnisos Pirate Museum. Take the steep hill up the side of the Museum and join the tarmac road towards Marpounta.
Approx. 2 km afterwards, the road branches off to the right and becomes a dirt road. Follow the pleasant path down towards the beach of Megalos Mourtias, the perfect spot for a cooling swim and a refreshing drink.
Having enjoyed your stop, proceed up the road for 500m, before branching off to the right to take an old, disused road that will take you winding up towards the old donkey path. This was a traditional path used by locals to come down to Patitiri from the Old Town using donkeys and carrying goods arriving at the port back up to the village. From here there’s just another 500m up the road until you enter the Old Town.
Take time to explore the beautiful settlement with its narrow streets, picturesque houses and stunning views.
From here you have the option to call a taxi or the bus to drive back to Patitiri, or simply walk back down the donkey path, adding another 2.5 km (approx. 40 minutes) to your walk.
